M.P. Shah Hospital Launches Hub Medical Centre in Karen

M.P. Shah Hospital has launched a new medical centre at The Hub Karen as it expands access to outpatient and specialist healthcare services beyond its main Parklands campus.

The Hub Medical Centre was introduced on Monday, June 22, ahead of its planned full opening in July. The facility will serve residents of Karen and neighbouring communities with family medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, dental and eye care, diagnostics and pharmacy services.

The launch reflects a growing shift among private healthcare providers towards bringing routine and specialist services closer to where patients live and work, particularly in Nairobi neighbourhoods where traffic and distance can delay access to care.

Speaking during the launch, M.P. Shah Hospital Board Chairman Dr Manoj Shah said the facility was designed to provide families with convenient access to a broad range of services in one location.

“We are not just building a clinic. We are creating a healthcare ecosystem that prioritises convenience and comprehensive care,” Dr Shah said.

The centre will include laboratory services as well as CT scans, ultrasound and X-ray services. M.P. Shah Hospital says the facility will operate under the quality and patient safety standards associated with its wider healthcare network.

Dr Toseef Din, the hospital’s chief executive officer, said the new centre would bring specialist consultations, diagnostics, pharmacy and preventive services closer to the Karen community.

The facility is the latest addition to M.P. Shah Hospital’s network of satellite centres, which already includes locations in Spring Valley, Village Market and Nairobi’s central business district. The model allows the hospital to extend access to outpatient care while maintaining links to its broader specialist services.

The Hub Karen Mall Manager Jacobus Visser said the partnership supports the mall’s ambition to become a more comprehensive community destination by adding essential services alongside retail, dining and recreation.

The centre’s introductory launch included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, plaque unveiling and facility tour. It is expected to begin full daily operations in July, with operating hours planned from 8:00am to 8:00pm.

The expansion comes as healthcare providers increasingly compete on accessibility as well as clinical capacity, with community-based facilities offering patients a closer option for consultations, diagnostics and preventive care.
