Cassava Technologies has become an authorised reseller of Anthropic’s Claude artificial intelligence models through Amazon Bedrock, adding another route for African organisations to access the technology.
The agreement will allow Cassava to offer businesses access to Claude’s capabilities, including advanced reasoning, image analysis, code generation and multilingual processing. The announcement does not specify which African markets will initially be covered or when the service will become available to customers.
Through Amazon Bedrock, organisations can integrate Claude models into their own applications and services without having to build large language models from scratch.
Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies, said access to advanced AI models was important for businesses seeking to incorporate the technology into their operations.
“What matters to our customers is being able to use AI in their business, and that starts with access to the best models,” Pemhiwa said.
He added that the partnership would combine access to Claude with the infrastructure, partnerships and services businesses need to adopt AI responsibly and participate more fully in the digital economy.
Cassava provides connectivity, cloud computing, cybersecurity, colocation, AI computing and payment solutions. Its operations span 37 countries across Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, Europe and the United Kingdom.
The Claude agreement adds to the company’s digital services portfolio as it seeks to support the adoption of artificial intelligence among businesses and institutions.
For African organisations, the commercial value of the arrangement will depend on factors including availability in individual markets, pricing, infrastructure requirements and the ability to integrate the models into existing business operations.
