Safaricom Empowers Rift Valley Youth Through Business Accelerator Forum

Lucas Maisiba July 19, 2025 1 minute read

Safaricom has equipped over 120 youth with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to accelerate their businesses across the Rift Valley region.

The program, dubbed ‘Grow with Safaricom’ Business Forum, is part of M-Pesa’s 18th anniversary celebrations, providing innovative financial and business solutions.

The forum has also been held in other regions such as the Coast, Nairobi, Greater Western Kenya, and Mt. Kenya, impacting more than 1,000 businesses.

Under the theme “Fueling Financial Growth Through Innovation,” the forum has brought together small and medium-sized enterprises and larger companies, equipping them with insights and strategies to digitize their operations, enhance customer experience and scale their ventures.

Safaricom’s Acting Chief Enterprise Officer Franklin Okata said the telco is looking for ways to support businesses financially by tapping into technology and business knowledge.

“Through Grow with Safaricom Business, we are exploring frameworks that support real-world financial progress and sharpen decision making of businesses. We focus on technology, people, and knowledge to create tangible opportunities for businesses to succeed,” Okata said.

This series has allowed many businesses to exchange ideas on how to harness digital technologies to expand market reach, streamline operations and build a strong online brand.
