
The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) has officially launched the EmpowerHER Patrons Circle, an initiative aimed at promoting gender inclusion within Kenya’s capital markets.
The launch event, held at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi, brought together influential leaders committed to championing women’s participation in finance and investment.
The EmpowerHER Patrons Circle is designed to empower one million women through financial literacy and investor education, as well as facilitate capital access for over 100 women-led businesses over the next three years.
The initiative focuses on mentorship, strategic engagement, and advocacy to support women’s economic empowerment.

Speaking at the launch, NSE Chief Executive Officer Frank Mwiti emphasized the transformative potential of the program.
“We are thrilled to launch the NSE EmpowerHER Patrons Circle and amplify the reach of this transformative initiative. We aim to enroll 1 million women into financial literacy and investor education programs and enable capital access for at least 100 women-led businesses.”
Mary Muinde, Chief of Staff to the Office of the First Lady, highlighted the initiative’s broader impact. She captioned the power of women in finance, calling it a major milestone.
“The NSE EmpowerHER Patrons Program not only creates opportunities but supports rewriting the narrative of women in finance, entrepreneurship, and investment. This initiative marks a bold step towards an inclusive, equitable, and resilient future.”
Kiprono Kittony, EBS, Chairman of the NSE stated that inclusivity improves business outcomes and give women opportunities that will last last longer.
“The economic case for gender inclusion is clear: diverse participation drives better outcomes for businesses and economies. Through NSE EmpowerHER, we are not only opening doors; we are building pathways that will last for generations.”

Brenda Mbathi, CEO of TRIFIC SEZ and one of the newly appointed patrons, also expressed her commitment to the program’s objectives.
“I am deeply honoured to have been nominated as one of the Patrons of the NSE EmpowerHER Program, a role that reflects my commitment to gender equality, sustainable investing, and inclusive economic growth.”
