Nyamira County is set to inject Sh300 million into its healthcare system in the upcoming financial year to enhance service delivery in public hospitals, Governor Amos Nyaribo has announced.
Speaking on Friday, May 23, 2025, during the burial of teacher Johnson Obanyi in Esanige, Magwagwa Ward, Governor Nyaribo emphasized that healthcare remains a top priority in his development agenda.
He promised that the funds will ensure all public health facilities are well-stocked with drugs, medical equipment and other critical supplies.
“I have set aside Sh300 million in the next financial year to ensure our hospitals have enough drugs and medical supplies,” Nyaribo said, reaffirming his commitment to implementing the promises in his manifesto.

He also encouraged residents to enroll in the Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme to access affordable treatment.
“I urge all county residents to register with SHA. While there have been challenges, the system is improving and we want our people to access treatment easily now that our hospitals will be better equipped,” he added.
Governor Nyaribo also highlighted road infrastructure as a key priority. He noted that the Roads Department had received a substantial allocation in the upcoming budget to enhance connectivity across all 20 wards.
“We aim to complete 15 kilometres of roads in each ward by November this year under Phase 1,” he stated, adding that road maintenance will be more efficient, thanks to new equipment acquired in the last financial year.
On education, the governor reiterated his support for needy but bright students through scholarships and announced a new partnership with the KCB Foundation.
As part of the agreement, at least Sh130 million will be invested to empower youth and women by providing them with skills and financial assistance aimed at promoting entrepreneurship.
Governor Nyaribo dismissed criticism from political rivals who claim he has done little during his tenure, asserting that significant development is ongoing across key sectors.
