Nairobi, November 28 – A resident Magistrate at Kakamega Law Courts Gladys Kiama has climbed to have been threatened to her life by Peter Salasya, Member of Parliament for Mumias East Constituency.
The incident took place today at 12:30 pm, immediately after Kiama delivered a judgement in a small claim matter against the MP.
According to the incident report filed at Kakamega Police station, Kiama had presided over a case (SSC E541/2023) where MP Salasya had been sued for failing to repay a loan.
Following the verdict, the MP confronted Kiama outside the courtroom and allegedly threatened to kill her before making his escape.
“He confronted her outside the court room and threatened to kill her and then took off,” read the police report.
The authority immediately launched a thorough investigation to apprehend Salasya and ensure that justice is served.

The Special Crime and Corruption Investigation office (SCCIO) of Kakamega Central is leading the investigation in the matter.
The Kakamega Law Courts, along with other Judicial bodies have expressed their solidarity with Kiama and condemned any form of intimidation or threat against judicial officers.
