President William Ruto hosted a grand state banquet at State House, Nairobi, in honor of King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, who is on an official visit to Kenya.
The banquet, attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and business leaders, marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and the Netherlands.
In his address, President Ruto emphasized the deep historical and economic ties between the two nations, highlighting Kenya’s role as a key partner in trade, agriculture, and climate action.
“Kenya and the Netherlands share a long-standing friendship built on mutual respect and cooperation. This visit is a testament to our commitment to expanding partnerships in trade, investment, and sustainable development,” Ruto said.

King Willem-Alexander, in his remarks, praised Kenya’s leadership in climate action and economic transformation, stating that the Netherlands remains committed to supporting Kenya’s development agenda.
“We recognize Kenya’s tremendous progress in various sectors, from agriculture to innovation. Our collaboration will continue to drive positive change for both our nations,” the Dutch monarch said.
The event featured traditional Kenyan performances, showcasing the country’s rich cultural heritage. Guests were treated to a specially curated menu that blended Kenyan and Dutch cuisines, symbolizing the fusion of cultures and diplomatic goodwill.
King Willem-Alexander’s visit includes discussions on trade agreements, water management, and climate resilience projects, areas where the Netherlands has extensive expertise.
The banquet set the stage for further engagements between the two countries, reinforcing their commitment to economic growth, environmental sustainability, and cultural exchange.
