Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah has said that Kenya is under the West’s influence and has no absolute sovereignty. He said that Kenya is “enslaved” by Western powers and Kenyan leaders.

“We are still enslaved by the West, we are enslaved by our own conscience, we are enslaved by so-called leadership,” Wajackoyah said in an interview in a local TV.

The 2022 presidential candidate, who came third in teh elections, joined Azimio coalition after the gneral elections. When asked asked about his party’s continued stay in Azimio, Wajackoyah said he is still in consultation to find the best way forward.

Wajackoyah further said that opposition is still strong despite Raila Odinga’s exit in the Kenyan politics, leaving Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as opposition leaders. He stated that opposition is made of of many people including himself and that their work is to put the government in check.

While commenting of 2022 electins, Wajackoyah claimed that it rigged and that Ruto is his biggest competitor in the next elections. He claimed that he got 2.8 million votes, contrary to Independent Elections and Boundaries Commissions (IEBC) revealing that he garnered 61,969 votes.

“I was number three with 2.8 million votes, which they all stole. I didn’t care about petitioning because it was a test. They had all the mighty powers. I only had God and a stick,” he claimed.

He said he has no intention of joing Kenya Kwanza government citing that he had been offered a position by the ruling coalition but he declined.

“I refused to join President Rutos’s government. Why would I join Ruto when I’m fighting him to take over from him so that I can make this country better,” he said.

Following Gen Z protests that rocked the country in the past few months, Wajackoya warned the young people to be cautious with the current regime, especially at the time rampant abductions are being witnessed. He praised them for their efforts and assured them of his continued support.

“Gen Z, be very careful with those fellows {referring to the government}. The country stinks of the so-called leaders who are now crying claiming they are with Gen Z,” he advised.
