NAIROBI, Kenya Oct 27-Detectives attached to the Kenya National examination have arrested a Christian Religious Education teacher at St Lilian Academy in Gikambura for allegedly possessing and selling fake National examination papers.
The 23 year old Nicholas Ngumbau Kalewa alias ‘Mr examiner’, claimed to have both the primary and secondary National Examination papers,he has over 10 whatsapp and telegram accounts where he sold fake papers from between Ksh 1500 to 2000 per paper.
“The examiner, had opened over 10 whatsapeach and telegram accounts where he was hawking the fake examination papers at a partly sh 1500 per paper and Ksh 2000 for a complete examination with a marking scheme,” DCI noted in their statement.
Detectives later infiltrated in the group posing as students and saw the teacher cautioning over 900 parents and students in the groups not to engage other matters especially in his inbox as he was busy attending to his clients. The teacher further cautioned them of scammers and that he was the only one that had legit products.
“In a typical conman’s language, he cautioned the over 900 parents and students in the group not to introduce other matters, as he was busy attending to those who were willing to buy,” stated the DCI in their statement.
Following investigations carried out by the detectives, the suspect was arrested in Gikambura village in Kiambu county where he was also found him in possession of several sim cards which he used stolen identity cards to acquire and were used to open a bank account and provided a till pay-bill number where the parents and students would send the money.
The ministry of Education the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) and the Directorate of Criminal investigations have assured that they will introduce mechanism aimed at upholding integrity at the ongoing National examinations.
