Senators Demands Probe Into The Raid At Omtatah’s Home

The attack on Busia senator’s premises of Wednesday has caused an uproar in the country with fellow senators condemning the attack and demanding the government to ensure Omtatah safety.

Omtatah’s Busia home was raided by armed goons.

At the time, the Busia senator was not at home but the assailants held Omtatah’s sister-in-law for an hour questioning her of the senator’s whereabouts.

The attack comes barely a month after Omtatah’s car was pelted by unknown assailants as he was leaving Busia law courts.

This attacked has angered senators who have demanded Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and and the Kenya to act swiftly to protect senator Omtatah and bring the culprits to book.

Lead by nominated senator Catherine Mumma, the senator’s linked Omtatah’s attacks to his litigation work.

“We call upon the DCI , the Kenya Police [and] everybody including the NIS to actually do their job and investigate these cases and report to us what is happening and ensure us tat senator Omtatah has been provided with full security within his home and his relatives not intimidated because of the work he is doing,” Catherine Mumma said.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei said the senator “will do an adjournment motion and take a position as a house on why senators should not be taken for granted.”

Senator Omtatah has been Kenya Kwanza’s biggest critic with many of its projects coming to a stop as he challenges them in court.

Among the projects that has in the past stopped by court is Kenya Kwanza’s housing levy

The senator has also been in the forefront fighting corruption as he has been seen in several occasions exposing government officials for allegedly being involved in corruption.

Since the attack, Omtatah has not commented on the incident.
