NAIROBI, KENYA NOVEMBER 21 – Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja today presided over the Pass Out Parade of the city’s newest batch of 93 firefighters.

The newly trained firefighters are equipped to handle a spectrum of emergencies, including firefighting, accident response, flood management, and ensuring resilience and safety of the city.

Speaking at the pass out, Governor Sakaja highlighted the importance of a well-trained and equipped firefighting force in ensuring a rapid and effective response to emergencies.

“Our investment in the training and development of these firefighters reflects our commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of Nairobi residents. This dedicated group will be at the forefront of our disaster management efforts, addressing a wide range of challenges that may arise within the city.” Said Gorvenor Sakaja.

The governor further lauded the Green Army for their continued efforts of daily cleaning of the city, unclogging and cleaning of drainages and garbage collection, activities that have saved the county from flooding and related damages arising from the raging rains.

On his part the Chief Disaster Management Officer Bramwell Simiyu said that the county Government is committed to providing the resources necessary to ensure that the fire department has the tools and equipment it needs to keep the community safe.

“The Nairobi City County Government is committed to providing the resources necessary to ensure that the fire department has the tools and equipment it needs to keep our community safe”, said Mr Simiyu.

“Additionally, this team will supplement the Green Army initiatives that have been at the forefront in ensuring Nairobi is a safe place for every one of us during this rainy season.” further observed Mr Simiyu.

Governor Sakaja also reaffirmed that his administration’s commitment to continuous training and investment in modern equipment for the fire and disaster management services.
