Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Gilbert Masengeli has been forgiven for the contempt of court, following his apologies to the court.

This comes after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) boss Faith Odhiambo confirmed that the three men who were abducted in Kitengela have been found alive.

For context, Masengeli’s sentence was as a result of his failure to appear in court to explain the whereabout of the Kitengela brothers.

While delivering his ruling, High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi acknowledged Masengeli’s plea and set aside his conviction and sentence.

Mugambi stated: “Mr masengeli through this purging process has purged his guilt for the contempt of court and thus both the conviction and sentence passed are set aside. I am making my decision to recuse myself from the further proceedings of this case for personal reasons.”
