Bob Njagi one of the Three men who disappeared on Monday, August 19, 2024, after being forcefully abducted by people alleged to be police officers in Kitengela has been found.

According to a statement by LSK president Faith Othiambo, Njagi sought assistance from Tigoni Police station upon his release from captivity.

“At around 1 am Bob Njagi managed find his way to Tigoni police station and for assistance. He is alive and well. The message from Bob and family,” stated a post from LSK president Faith Othiambo.

‘To family, friends and every Kenyan that has continued to pray for me, I wish to confirm that I am well and with my family. It is now time to quiet the noise, be grateful for life and for everyone to reflect on why Kenya matters.”

During the incident, Njagi was forcibly taken by masked individuals from a Kitengela plying matatu he was travelling in and bundled in a Subaru by unknown people.

Njagi was abducted alongside two brothers Jamil Longton (42) and Aslam Longton (36), who have also been found in Gachie on Friday morning.

Connection with Masengeli’s sentence

The dissapearance of the three Kitengela men raised concerns across the country with member of the public and human rights organization accusing police for the abduction.

The then acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli was summoned seven times by High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi to give account of the whereabout of the three men. However, Masengeli failed to appear in court, prompting the court to find him with contempt of court.

Consequently, Masengeli was sentenced to six months in jail for defying court summons. He was ordered to present himself to Kamiti prison to begin his jail term after he failed to appeal the court’s decision in time.

It remains to be seen whether Masenegli will serve his jail term after the Appellate Court declined to suspend the High Court sentence, pending hearing slated for next week.
