Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge has stated that hat he will participate on 2028 Olympics and he’s not yet retired, after jetting back from Paris Olympic.
After having setbacks, he had indicated on retiring. He termed the challenge as the worst marathon in his entire career highlighting that it was his time to evolve and do other things.
However, he has noted that he will tour the entire country over the course of coming days to mentor young people and encourage them into running, winning over obstacles and breaking records.
“As an athlete, I will be at the Olympics in another capacity to inspire hope and optimism not just in my country and continent, but across the entire world,” Kipchoge stated.
Kipchoge first claimed his Olympic crown in Rio 2016 clocking 2:08:44, In 2020 he defended his title at Tokyo by clocking 2:08:38. He also holds five Berlin Marathon titles, four London marathon titles, 2021 Tokyo Marathon as well as 2014 Chicago Marathon.
He also pointed out that Kenya,s Athletics is in safe hand with the younger generation.
“The future of Kenya is bright as far as marathon is concerned. There are a lot of strong competitive, energetic and disciplined athletes who have so much potential,” he noted.
