Kenya to face it’s first time cyclone hidaya which is expected to hit in the  coastal region on near days as the forecasters warns the people to around the area to be vigilant.

While kenya is struggling with floods that have ravaged the country, a new meteorogical prediction has it that a cylone named hidaya is likely to hit with large waves and strong winds on the East African coast.

The tropical cylone hidaya is said to have been discovered Southern Indian Ocean North Eastern Comoros and East of Tanzania on 1st of March 2024 while Mateo France la Reunion with forecast model tracking it on 2nd to 4th May on the East African coast.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) climate prediction and application said the cylone hidaya is expected to make a heavy landfall on Kenyan’s southern neigbour Tanzania on May 4th 2024 bringing its wave almost 8 meters (26 feet) high and 65 kph (100 mph) winds.

Tanzania meteorogical authority has called upon citizens to take precautionary measures. They stated that the effects of the coming tragedy is going to be dire and people should be warned and prepared.

During a press release, Kenyan President Williams Ruto warned the people about the coming disaster.

“We have not seen the last of this perilous period, as the situation is expected to escalate. Meteorological report paint a dire picture and kenya may face its fist time ever cyclone,“ Ruto said.

“This cylone called hidaya that could hit anytime now is predicted to cause torrential rain and powerful and dangerous rains,” he added.

The president earlier warned people living in land side prone area to leave for safer ground. He also postponed the reopening of schools which was meant to be next week till further notice.
