The just ended Olympics has been good, Kenyans came a long way when everyone was about to give up on medals and deliver but truth be told we have lost the touch of Olympics camaraderia, kick and psyche.

Kenya managed a fit of being position 17 Overall, position 2 in field and truck events just behind USA and position 1 in Africa.

Team Kenya bagged 11 medals 4 gold that’s for first position, 2 silver for second position and 5 bronze medals for third position. Among this was the pride seeing the Kenyan flag flying high and blending with the rich colour of the foreign land.

During the just ended Olympics, Women performed better than men. We had only four men at the top three of the entire races. Of importance is the fact that we missed in a race that has been known to be Kenyan dominated since way back, that is 3000 M steeplechase.

It is heart wrenching to watch such a race where Kenyan would take position 1,2,3,4 being dominated by other people, sports is a sport of competition, but competition does not mean losing it means giving it all that whoever is trying must try hard and hard again, where and when did we lose our touch in this event?

Time to plan for 2028LA
4 years will be a short time for sport person who have athletics already scheduled, and in 2028 Kenyans do not deserve to feel like they are loosing it until the last minutes.

“No human is limited” kipchoge once said, he has lived to his end time in athletics and he leaves us a legacy so are his quotes.

Ferdinand Omanyala being the first man to represent us in short races is a prove that we are capable of doing a lot more than what we take.

We have Julius Yego throwing Javelin and despite him taking position five in the just ended Olympics he still managed to throw a season best of 87.72 M. Maybe this was his last time in the Olympics as well, does that mean we won’t have other javelin representatives? Can we field swimming athletes ? Taekwondo, shot put, Discuss throw, long jump, triple jump, high jump, gymnastics, shooting, Boxing, Wrestling, Cycling? We are capable.

We have seen such competitions organized in our schools this could transition into full scale competition with professional guidance, training and positive motivation, rewards and nurturing.
Kudos team Kenya.
