Kenya Climbs Six Places In FIFA Ranking As Argentina Tops

Harambee Stars have climbed six places in the latest FIFA world rankings released on Thursday. This came after their recent draw and victory against Zimbabwe and Namibia respectively in early September during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The national team’s improved standing reflects their strong performances in these matches. Kenya is now ranked 102nd globally and stands a chance of climbing higher in the rankings if they can secure a win against Cameroon in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers slated for October.

The Harambee Stars earned 11 points, increasing their total from 1,197 to 1,208, boosting their position on the FIFA chart.

Kenya’s rise in the rankings comes on the back of a 2-1 win over Namibia and a goalless draw with Zimbabwe in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches.

Meanwhile, in the updated FIFA rankings, Morocco, who reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, remain Africa’s top-ranked team, sitting in 12th place after moving up one spot.

Former African champions Senegal, who previously held a higher position, have now dropped to 21st globally. Ivory Coast, the reigning African champions, made a five-place leap to occupy 33rd position worldwide, ranking third in Africa.

Globally, the top three spots are unchanged, with Argentina, France, and Spain retaining the first three positions. England follows in fourth place, with Brazil rounding out the top five.
