FKF Premier League champions Gor Mahia faces a tough challenge in the second round of CAF Champions League after being defeated by El Merreikh Bentiu of South Sudan 1-0 in the first leg , held at the Juba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Mohamed Musa scored a crucial goal in the first half to give K Ogallo the lead ahead of the second leg, which will be held in Nairobi next weekend.
Gor Mahia started strong and threatened in the first half, with Enock Morrison having his penalty denied. K’Ogalo had another excellent chance again over Alfa Onyango chance in the 28th minute when a rebound from a corner fell to the strikers feet.

The second half started with the first scoring chance not arriving until the 60th minute when Alfa Onyango struck a powerful shot from outside the area, but keeper Bentiu made a good save to send it back.
El Merrikh finally opened the scoring in the 67th minute, thanks to Mohamed Musa who performed magic in Gor Mahia’s defense before slotting the ball into the empty net.

The lead could have been extended to two in the 82nd minute, when Saaka turned to pass to Ater, but the striker fired wide from 12 yards.
Gor Mahia substitute Samuel Kapen almost equalized in the last minute, but the striker headed Paul Ochuoga’s ball wide.
