Three-time Olympic champion Faith Kipyegon showcased her unparalleled talent in the 1,500m, delivering a commanding performance to secure victory at the Rome Diamond League.
Fresh off her third consecutive Olympic gold in Paris, Kipyegon surged ahead in the final 120 meters, winning with a time of 3:52.89.
This marks Kipyegon’s second Diamond League win of the season, following her record-breaking run in Paris in July.

The Kenyan star set a new world record of 3:49.04 before making history as the first woman to win three consecutive Olympic golds in the 1,500m.
Rome holds special significance for Kipyegon, as Italy is where she first shattered the 1,500m world record.
In June 2023, she ran 3:49.11 in Florence, becoming the first woman to break the 3:50 barrier, surpassing Ethiopian Genzebe Dibaba’s previous record of 3:50.07.

Kipyegon had a delayed start to her 2024 season due to an injury that kept her out of the Pre Fontaine Classic in May. However, she returned triumphantly at the Olympics trials in Nairobi, winning both the 1,500m and 5,000m to secure her spot in Paris, where she performed excellently.
