NAIROBI,KENYA OCT 30-The Cabinet secretary Roads and Transport has appointed a new Director General of Nairobi Metropolitan area transport authority(NaMATA) for a period of three years.
Eng. Francis Gitau, who is now a former Infrastructure secretary at the state department of roads, has been appointed today by CS Kipchumba Murkomen as the New director of NaMATA following the competitive recruitment process conducted by the NaMATA board.
“I, the cabinet secretary for roads and Transport, hereby notify the public of the appointment of Eng. Francis Gitau as the Director General of Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority(NaMATA) for a period of three years with effect from 30th October 2023,” stated the CS in a statement.
Gitau ,has over 30 year of experience in road sector development and management. He holds a masters degree in Transportation Engineering from the University of Nairobi, an executive masters in Business administration from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and a Bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
He also has a post graduate in training in road maintenance from Aachen University, Germany, advanced international training on Road construction and maintenance from Malaysia ,and training in corporate governance among other professional training done locally and internationally.
The CS has further congratulated the new director and expressed his confidence towards him in providing leadership in the development of an integrated mass rapid transport system for the Nairobi Metropolitan Area.
