Botswana sprinter and Paris 2024 200M winner Letsil Tebogo has received more prestigious awards, lately being handed diamond treasure and cash rewards over the weekend.

Tebogo is among 14 Team Botswana athletes who were gifted a polished diamond and P60,000 (Ksh580,068) alongside members of their technical team, from Debswana, De Beers Global Sight holder Sales and Diamond Trading Company Botswana at the weekend.

“Los Angeles 2028 is just around the corner. We must not allow the standard we’ve set to drop. Our collective preparation for LA 2028 must begin now,” said Debswana managing director Andrew Motsomi during the ceremony

According to reports, in 2022 the company had invested P9 Million to Botswana athletics to fund for Paris 2024 preparations.

To them receiving their ever first gold from Letsil Tebogo is greatest achievement, biggest success from their investment.

Botswana rewarded Tebogo, who is their brand ambassador, with P500,000 (Ksh4,833,904).

The rewards come on much more which has already been given to the sprinter and his team-mates since returning to the country after the Paris Olympics where he won gold in 200m and silver in 4x400m relay.

Top restaurant Park27 last week pledged a sponsorship of P10,000 (Ksh96,347) per month for the next one year to fund his athletics preparations.

Botswanan gold medalists in Paris were rewarded P1 million (Ksh9,538,990), silver attracting P500,000 (Ksh4,769,495) while bronze medalists took home P250,000 (2,384,747) and Finalists a P25,000 (Ksh238,474) cash prize.
