Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi now wants kenyan President William Ruto to apologize to Kenyans for what he has termed as Elnino Misinformation.
“I think president owes this country an apology because he came out and said it is not to rain. But now we have seen it is proper El Nino and people have lost lives and property. I think he deserves to apologise to Kenyans for misinforming them.” Osotsi said.
President William Ruto had come out on 22nd of October and told Kenyans not to worry as there would be no heavy rains as had earlier been forecasted by meteorology department.
They had forewarned Kenyans to prepare since November and December will be accompanied by heavy rains.
Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said atleast 80,000 households in Kenya has been affected with numbers raising everyday. With 33 counties affected by flooding and Mombasa being the most affected.
He said the government was responding to “save our people” including with helicopters and other emergency services to deliver aid and rescue marooned families.
“This situation has continued to threaten lives, and I urge Kenyans to avoid floodwaters and avoid low lying areas.” Gachagua said.
