A New Study Reveals Kenya Is A Drinking Nation

Nairobi, Kenya, Feb 29-Kenya has been ranked among the top African countries with the highest beer consumption.

A report by voter database Wisevoter, Kenya ranks at number five in Africa and number 52 globally with a beer consumption of 12 liters per capita.

Top in the list is Namibia which is number 6 globally (95.5 liters per capita), followed by Gabon (67 liters per capita), South Africa (60.1 liters per capita) and Democratic Republic of Congo (54.8 liters per capita) which are position 25, 28 and 35 respectively.

Tanzania and Uganda follow Kenya at position 6 and 7 in Africa each having a consumption average of 8 and 6 liters per capita.

“Beer consumption is measured by volume and per capita. The former expresses the amount of beer a country drinks in liters, while the latter takes that number and divides it by the population to show the liters of beer consumed per person,” read the report in part.

Beer is an alcoholic beverage produced from malted grain and yeast fermentation and is among the most consumed beverages worldwide.
