Telecommunications giant Safaricom has been recognized as the top employer in 2025, a distinction awarded by the Top Employers Institute (TEI).
This accolade marks the fourth consecutive year Safaricom has claimed the top spot in Africa.
The ranking is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the company’s Human Resource (HR) policies and people practices, covering 20 key areas across six domains of HR management.
These include People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Diversity and Inclusion, and Well-being.

David Plink, CEO of the Top Employers Institute, praised the companies on the 2025 list for their resilience and commitment to the growth and well-being of their employees.
“This year’s Top Employers Certification Programme showcases the resilience of the certified Top Employers 2025, who consistently prioritize the growth and wellbeing of their people, as they enrich the world of work,” Plink said.
Safaricom’s CEO, Peter Ndegwa, expressed pride in the recognition, highlighting the company’s continued investment in fostering a positive and dynamic work environment.
“This certification is an endorsement of the strong employer brand that Safaricom has created over the years by providing an agile working environment and numerous opportunities for employees to grow in their chosen crafts,” Ndegwa remarked.
The Top Employers Institute’s certification process assesses employer practices to ensure they align with global standards.
