AFC Leopards is on the verge of losing its key assets, including the team bus, as former player Robert Mudenyu moves to recover Ksh991,000 owed to him.
The amount was awarded by the Sports Disputes Tribunal in December 2023 due to the unlawful termination of his contract.
Since the club has not settled the debt, Mudenyu is pushing for the auction of assets such as the bus, tables, computers, and desks.
Mudenyu, who severed ties with Leopards before the 2023-24 season after joining in August 2019, had unsuccessfully sought the payment of his outstanding dues.

This led him to file a suit at the tribunal, which awarded the sum, but the 12-times Kenyan Premier League champions have not paid, prompting Mudenyu’s move to auction.
Leopards now joins a list of Kenyan clubs facing asset auctions over delayed or non-payment of dues to former players.
In May, Sofapaka’s team bus was auctioned and sold for Ksh1 million by former players Michael Kibwage and Paul Kiongera to recover salary arrears.
Similarly, Gor Mahia had their team bus auctioned for Ksh1 million in March 2023 by former player Wellington Ochieng to recover unpaid salaries and signing-on fees.
