Ruto Officially Unveils Raila’s AUC Chair Candidacy

President William Ruto has officially unveiled Raila Odinga as AUC chair candidate for Kenya on Tuesday, 27th August in Statehouse, Nairobi.

The launch kick-starts Raila campaign in the continent for AUC chair.In his speech, the president gave his vote of confidence and full support to Raila Odinga.

“ I know that honourable Raila Odinga not only possesses the requisite credentials but he is also the ideal to lead the AUC. Accordingly, Kenya endorses his candidature unreservedly. And we commit wholeheartedly to support his candidature, vision and his leadership.’’ Ruto said.

The launch has been graced by, president of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit, Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania,Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda, General Gervais Ndirakobuca Prime Minister of Burundi.

Former presidents of Tanzania Jakaya Kikwete and Olesegun Obasanjo of Nigeria and General James Kaberebe , former minister of defence of Rwanda. Ambassadors and high commissioners were also in attendance.

President William Ruto also went ahead to name the secretariat that will aid in Raila’s campaign. Being led by principal secretary of foreign affairs,Dr. Korir Singoei and ambassador Elkana Odembo.

The team will also be aided by diverse membership drawn from five regions of the African Union.

Raila Odinga underscored his readiness to lead Africa. Showing concern on several problems that need to be addressed.

He named his plans to spearhead major developments such as; infrastructure development of Trans-Africa highways and railways, provision of fibre optic network for faster communication, continental air control systems and one visa to travel to all African countries.

Odinga also emphasized the need for unity and peace in the continent.
