NAIROBI, DEC 24 – Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has lauded Ruto’s decision to make Kenya a visa-free destination. Speaking in Nandi County, Mudavadi said that the move will improve the country’s economy as businesses will expand due to inflow of people.
According to Mudavadi, Kenya receives close to 1.3 million tourists every year. He said, Ruto’s decision is projected to attract more than 4 million tourists to Kenya in the next five years.
Mudavadi: “In this time every year, visitors who come to Kenya is about 1.2 to 1.3 million, tourism. The decision of President Willian Ruto, he is targeting that in 5 years, he want us to jump from 1.5 million to 4 or 5 million tourists coming to Kenya. And when they come, the hotels and businesses will expand and farmers will get market [for their produce] because many people will come (to Kenya).”
On 12th of December 2023, President William Ruto announced that all people intending to visit Kenya from all corners of the world will not be require to have a visa. He said this during Jamhuri Day celebration.

The head of state said that visitors coming to Kenya will be be verified online thus easing the requirements for tourists and other foreigners to come to Kenya. The announcement will take effect on January 1st 2024.
“It is with great pleasure, as president of this extraordinary country, to make a historic announcement of the decision of the Government of Kenya. Beginning January 2024, Kenya will be a visa-free country. It shall no longer be necessary for any person from any corner of the globe to carry the burden of applying for a visa to come to Kenya,” President Ruto said during Jamhuri Day celebration at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi.
