Mantrac Kenya, the sole authorised dealer of Caterpillar equipment in the country, has marked its 100 years of operations in Kenya.

Speaking during the celebration at Mantrac headquarters Nairobi, Nigel Lewis, Chief Operating Officer of Mantrac Group, said the company’s century-long presence in Kenya has fueled the country’s growth through provision of equipment across key areas of the economy.

“From roads and infrastructure that fuel the country’s growth, to expanding production at farms, to power for small communities and even modern data centres, our machines and power generation solutions have helped turn the government’s vision and people’s ambitions into realities, and tangible opportunities for the next generation,” Lewis said.

Role in education

As part of the celebration, Mantrac Group has inked a plan to sponsor hundreds of pupils while also contributing to the construction of classrooms. “We have just signed off on a plan to sponsor 1000 pupils over the coming five years, and we will do whatever it takes, from classroom building and finishing, to water supply, to power provision whether solar or regular, to reach this goal.”

Mantrac Kenya Managing Director Mohamed Ibrahim said the dealer remains committed to supporting the country’s next phase of growth. He lauded Caterpillar machines for its superior quality, adding that since they got the opportunity to be the dealer of Caterpillar, the company has been able to bring impact across several sectors in the country.

“It’s a century of resilience, commitment and working together on shared goals. Caterpillar machines are great in building roads and bridges; from agriculture to marine engines and power generation in every critical spot in this country. Our story is not only about the machines, it is about the legacy we have and the communities we touch,” Ibrahim said.

Corporate Social responsibility

Lavanya Ajesh, Vice President Distribution – Africa of Caterpillar, praised Mantrac for sustaining long-term investments that have kept the company close to local markets and responsive to customer needs. She added that Caterpillar remains committed to integrity and community impact beyond business.

“Through the Caterpillar Foundation, we have invested more than Sh3.1 billion ($24 million) since 2015 to support communities across the countries where Mantrac operates. While our products may look different from a century ago, our mission remains the same: to power growth, uplift communities, and build Kenya, one century at a time,” she said.
