The government has officially opened the registration process for the anticipated climate resilience service program (CRSP), calling on young people from all 47 counties to sign up.
The initiative is aimed at providing employment opportunities and promoting environmental sustainability. Similar to the previous kazi mtaani initiative, the program seeks to engage youth in climate related communal work
Housing and urban development Principal Secretary Charles Hinga said the program focusses on three major areas including environmental conservation, roads and infrastructure and housing and urban development.
He called on applicants to use the official registration portal, www.crsp.go.ke, as the only legitimate platform for signing up
“This is the only authentic site we are using for registration, and we encourage all interested individuals to visit it and register themselves,” said Hinga during the announcement. He also added that the portal shall remain open for 10 days after which the recruitment process will begin.
Participants in the CRSP and supervisors mainly drawn from National Youth Service (NYS) will receive daily wedge whereby payments will be made through mobile money, with Safaricom’s M-PESA being the preferred payment method hence the need for applicants to ensure their mobile money accounts are active and operational.
“Participating youth will earn a daily wedge of Sh500, with supervisors earning Sh550, paid directly via mobile money,” PS Hinga said.
The PS further noted that the initiative would prioritize inclusivity with key focus on gender equality, persons with disabilities and those living in informal settlements.
He added that applicants must be aged between 18 to 35 years, posses a valid national identification card and a functioning Safaricom line with mobile money capacity.
This program forms a part of the government’s comprehensive effort to not only combat challenges posed by climate change but also aims to create meaningful employment opportunities for the younger generation in the country.
“Through climate WorX, we are not just offering a paycheck for today; we are providing financial relief and a bridge to future opportunities,” said president William Ruto during the Madaraka day celebrations.
