
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has shut down nine petrol stations across the country for selling adulterated fuel and export-bound petroleum in its latest enforcement operation.
The crackdown aims to curb fuel fraud and protect consumers from substandard products.
According to EPRA, the affected stations were found to be engaging in illegal fuel activities, including selling diluted fuel and diverting petroleum products meant for export.
The crackdown comes amid increased efforts to ensure fuel quality and compliance with industry regulations
The petrol stations shut down include:
Ahero Stage (Kisumu): Adulterated super petrol
Wamuini (Trans Nzoia): Selling export diesel
Mungatsi (Busia): Selling export super petrol
Miami Energy (Kajiado): Adulterated diesel
Wangu (Murangโa): Adulterated fuel
Sofla Energy (Maragua): Adulterated fuel
El Bethel (Marsabit): Repeat offender
Mazeras (Kilifi): Illegal storage site
Kobodo (Homa Bay): Adulterated fuel
EPRA has warned that stringent action will be taken against stations found violating fuel quality standards.
โWe remain committed to ensuring that consumers receive high-quality fuel and that unscrupulous traders do not compromise the integrity of the petroleum sector,โ the authority stated.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort to enhance regulatory enforcement and maintain trust in Kenyaโs fuel supply chain.
