A tragic bus accident occurred today in the Josa area on the Wundanyi-Voi road, resulting in the deaths of four people, including students. Several others were injured in the crash.
The Voi road accident happened when the bus lost control and veered off the road. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to assist the victims and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident to determine what led to this tragic event. They have urged drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
This comes amidst the concerns of the rising roads accidents reported in the country.
Number Of Road Accidents in 2024
In the first nine months of 2024, road accidents in Kenya claimed 3,369 lives. This is an increase from the 3,151 deaths reported during the same period in 2023 according to the National Police Service (NPS).
The then acting Inspector General of Police, Gilbert Masengeli, had expressed concern over the rising number of accidents.
“We have seen an increase in road traffic accidents across the country, which is why we convened this consultative meeting with all Regional Traffic Enforcement Officers to address the issue of road carnage and corruption within the Traffic Unit,” Masengeli said.
World Bank Data On Road Accidents In Kenya
According to the World Bank, Kenya has a high rate of road traffic fatalities, with a figure of 28 deaths per 100,000 people, which is considered one of the highest rates globally, particularly in Africa where the average is around 19 deaths per 100,000 people.
