The Ps for Immigration and Citizen Services, Julius Bittok this morning met with religious leaders to discuss the government’s agenda plan of rolling out Maisha Digital ID.
The government is keen on introducing Maisha number Maisha Card and Maisha Digital ID and also introducing Maisha integrated database.
“And this morning we are a public participation forum with religious leaders from across different faiths ranging from NCCK,”PS Bitok stated adding that.
“We are all of them invited this morning for a public participation forum and I’m happy to report that we have a good engagement with them,” he said.
In his remarks Ps Bittok said that the religious leaders have agreed to support the rollout of Maisha number.
Further, the PS reported that the country have had 698 public participation forums across the country supported by national government administration officers.
“We have had forums in all the 378 sub counties across the country and isn’t a bit to have more binds, isn’t a bit to engage more to sensitize the public more because issues to do with identity are cross cutting and they involve many stakeholders,”Bitok noted.
The PS added that They have involve many partners across the board showing his contentment reporting that they had engaments with the civil society.Among other partnersengaged included the private sector,the media development partners,business community and NGOs
” I’m happy to report that we have had engagements with the civil society, the private sector, the media development partners, the business community and GO and many other persons who are engaged in the digital identity ecosystem,”Bitok said,adding that the meeting is going to to create more understanding broadening the scope about the Maisha card.
He informed the public that public participation will be given a Frontline to ensure everyone participate.
“And I’m happy to inform the country that public participation continues,” He said.
He reiterated that they will continue engaging different groups of persons where next week Tuesday the government has planned a forum with civil society so that it can also be able to explain to them more and more about this very important project.
PS Bitok called upon all the interested groups to continue submitting the memoranda of some of the issues they feel need to be taken care of in.
In the rollout of this very important project, the government is keen to listen to every concern, every idea, whether small or big, to ensure that we’ll get it right this time round.
He reminded the citizens that this plan have been there but due to lack of inclusivity and public participation the attempt had failed.He further said they are keen this time to ensure the plan goes as planned.
“I’m also happy to inform the country that we’re able to do what we call Data Impact assessment and we’re able to submit to the data Commission the Data Data Impact Assessment report, which is part and parcel of this of this very important process,” he stated.
