Nairobi 7 Agust – Stella Soi Langat is the only cabinet secretary nominee who has been rejected by the National Assembly Appointments Committee. The other 19 CS nominees were successfully approved according a report tabled in Parliament by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah on Wednesday.
Ichung’wah said that “the committee rejected the appointment of Ms Stella Soi Lang’at.”
Stella Langat had been nominated to be cabinet secretary for Ministry of Gender, Culture, The Arts and Heritage.
President William Ruto was forced to nominate new Cabinet after having dissolve his earlier Cabinet, the move to dissolve the cabinet came in as a pressure from Gen Z who had taken to the streets asking for the rejection of finance bill 2024 which has since then been rejected. They had also demanded accountability and a change in the entire cabinet in a bid to ensure transparency and accountability.

Among the CS nominated and vetted in were Aden Duale (Environment), Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Alice Wahome (Lands), Alfred Mutua (Labour), Salim Mvurya (Trade), Justin Muturi (Public Service), Soipan Tuya (Defence), Kipchumba Murkomen (Sports), Davis Chirchir (Roads and Transport) Rebecca Miano (Wildlife and Tourism), Debra Mulongo Barasa (Health), and Julius Migosi Ogamba (Education).
Others are Andrew Mwihia Karanja (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Eric Muriithi Muuga (Water, Sanitation and Irrigation), Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u (Information, Communication and Digital Economy), John Mbadi (National Treasury), Opiyo Wandayi (Energy), Hassan Joho (Mining) and Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives).

Should the report be adopted as it by the National Assembly, the 19 approved CSs will be sworn in as Ruto to look for Stella’s replacement.
