The Deputy Speaker and Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Shollei had openly declared intentions to move a motion impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking at a function in Uasin Gishu County on Monday, September 23, Shollei boldly put the DP on notice, saying she was willing to lead the impeachment motion.

“I am putting you Rigathi Gachagua on notice. You are going to be impeached and I am going to be in charge of the impeachment,” Sholei stated.

Shollei further claimed she would personally ensure President Ruto is ousted from the the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Her comments comes to an already fiery situation, with an overwhelming number of Ruto’s allies applying pressure in an attempt to oust the embattled Gachagua.

Kimilili mp Didmus Barasa also during an event in western kenya said that Gachagua is the initiator of his woos noting that no member of parliament has been bribed to impeach Gachagua.

“Gachagua impeached himself one year ago. Recently, he claimed that MPs have been bribed to send him home. None of us has been bribed. We in the National Assembly have got courage from our Gen Z youths who breached parliament, ” said Barasa.

He added that the decision to impeach the deputy president is to defend the Kenyan democracy against tribalism in the country and Gachagua will be impeached before the year ends.

“We have also decided to defend the Kenyan democracy and fight against tribalism in the country, and before this year ends, Gachagua will be celebrating Christmas as an ordinary citizen,” Barasa reiterated.

Central Organisation of Trade Unions—Kenya (COTU-K) Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, Lashed at Gachagua of being in campaign mode and misleading the country by contradicting government policies and the president.

“You cannot be contradicting government policies, contradicting your own president. A deputy president is supposed to play cool, not even to be heard unless he has been told you will be heard now,” lamented Atwoli.

On Monday, Tana River Senator Danson Mungatana filed a censure motion in the Senate to address concerns regarding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s conduct in office.

While addressing the media, Mungatana said that DP Gachagua has breached the law provisions on how he should conduct himself in office and performing his duties.

Githunguri MP, Gathoni Wamuchomba, defended Gachagua saying that they are on the lookout for the impeachment motion reportedly to be tabled in Parliament soon.

She said Mt Kenya region dislikes betrayal and called out President Ruto to take note of the 606,000 votes he garnered in Kiambu alone, urging Ruto to respect the people’s voice also let Gachagua do his job.

“I am a sad mother, daughter of the mountain. I am not qualified to advise the President but please remember how painful it was to get that seat. I cannot imagine it is only two years and we have forgotten what we went through and now we are chest thumping as we attempt to impeach the deputy President,” Wamuchomba said.

Gachagua during an interview with a media house said that he is being humiliated by ‘Ruto’s men’ and the president has knowledge about it.
