President William Ruto is scheduled to embark on a two-day official visit to Germany, marking his second international trip since the deadly gen-z protests that left more than 60 people dead.

The head of state will be attending the Bürgerfest 2024, as confirmed by State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed.

During the visit, President Ruto will participate in several high-level engagements, including discussions with prominent German business leaders to explore avenues for trade and investment.

“The President will meet with top German business executives during a special CEO forum focused on expanding trade and investment ties between Kenya and Germany. CEOs from major companies like Mercedes-Benz, YouTube, and Ida Cruises are expected to attend,” Hussein stated.

While there he will witness the signing of the Kenya-Germany Agreement on Comprehensive Migration and Mobility Partnership.

This pact aims to enhance labor mobility, apprenticeships, student training, employment opportunities, and the welfare of workers. It will also cover provisions related to the readmission and return of citizens between both countries.

Additionally, Ruto is expected to hold bilateral talks with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz, focusing on collaboration in areas such as green energy, climate action, digital innovation, trade, skills development, labor mobility, and regional and global peace and security.

Earlier, the President outlined his plans for the visit, emphasizing the signing of a labor agreement that would provide Kenyans with greater access to online job opportunities, further solidifying Kenya’s presence in the global tech space.
