August 9 – Azimio leader Raila Odinga has visited the home of businessman Jimmy Wanjigi in Muthiga in the wake of his manhunt by police.

JEDCA MEDIA has established that Azimio boss visited the home of the tycoon, but it has not been confirmed if he met Wanjigi in person.

Police on Thursday through to Friday laid siege to Wanjigi’s palatial Muthaiga home in what they say is part of a police operation launched after authorities accused him of sponsoring anti-government protests.

His Willis Otieno who spoke to the media earlier castigated the manner in which the police handled the matter as a flagrant violation of the law in a politically motivated scheme.

”I am not aware of any official communication or summon for him to appear. It shows you the witch-hunt that this regime has against Mr. Wanjigi,” he said.

On Thursday, officers reportedly searched Wanjigi’s Nairobi residence after tracking a vehicle that had been abandoned outside his home.

The police alleged that Wanjigi is connected to the Nane Nane protests, which were held on August 8, claiming he was seen distributing money to youths on Limuru Road to fund the demonstrations.

The protests, primarily led by Gen Z youth, have been ongoing since June, with participants demanding better governance.

The protests have resulted in the deaths of more than 60 people, many of whom were shot during confrontations with the police.

Yesterday, Nairobi experienced a heavy police presence as officers dispersed demonstrators using tear gas on key streets, including Tom Mboya Street, Moi Avenue, and Kimathi Street.

Wanjigi has moved to court accusing the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Renson Igonga and the Inspector General of Police (IG) Gilbert Masengeli of several violations, including forcibly entering his home and attempting to arrest him without lawful justification.
