Pan Africa Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) and East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) has collaborated to scale up community resilience as a way of fostering climate change.
Speaking during a tree planting exercise in Kenyatta University,PACJA head of programes and research Charles Mwangi revealed that the lobby group which has membership across 51 countries globally is in the process of distributing drought resilience plants like sorgum to communities in the ASAL rehions.
“Apart from planting trees which is a mitigation impact, we want to ensure that we build resilience among people.Because communities are already impacted.This will help support their livelihoods,” said Mwangi.
He added that the tree planting initiative is cardinal in ensuring that communities are also taking part in mitigating climate change.
PACJA says it has plans to roll out a tree planting exercise in West Pokot and will roll it to all cojnties in the country to run interndem with the national government tree planting exercise.
