MANCHESTER (EPL) – Manchester United returned from the international break in style as they beat Everton 3-0 at a hostile Goodison Park.

A stunning overhead kick from Alejandro Garnacho opened the score for Manchester United just after 3 minutes to the game. Marcus Rashford added the second from a penalty spot after Antony Martial was fouled.

Manchester United held in the last minutes to their status as the most in-form Premier League team with five wins from their last six games and four away league victories on the bounce. It was also their largest away win in the league since beating Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, a match that kept Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the job for a few more weeks.

Garnacho’s Puskas award-worthy goal gave Man United the lead after just three minutes. In similar fashion to Wayne Rooney versus Manchester City and Cristiano Ronaldo versus Juventus, two United greats, Garnacho may have outdone both with his quite sensational strike. The Argentine’s overhead kick was from beyond the penalty spot and Jordan Pickford had no choice but to turn and watch it rocket past him.

An 18-years-old wonder kid Kobbie Mainoo proved to be one of the most upcoming talented players, as he showed his class through reading the game and bossing midfield with Scott McTominay as combined pivot. His pre-season hallmark of dropping into the defensive third to receive the ball was evident before Garnacho silenced Goodison. That eagerness was just as well, for him to go all the way back to clear off his own goal line.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was full of praises for him for his maturity and character, while also explaining the importance of developing young players. Ten Hag told Sky Sports that they have to develop players.

“We have to develop players. Kids have to deserve it. It was painful for us when he got a bad injury in pre-season but now he’s back. He’s a good boy, very mature. He showed it today. I like him,” Ten Hag said.
