Outed United Democratic Party (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala now says some of his family members were abducted yesterday at gunpoint by people believed to be police.

According to the father, the assailants relentlessly tortured the two young men in an attempt to extract information on the location of him and his wife and sought directions to their residence.

“My Son and my 19-year-old brother-in-law were abducted at gunpoint. Tortured for 6 hours to disclose my whereabouts or that of my wife and to show them the way to my residence,” he said in a tweet.

“On failing to find us at home they dumped them on Thika road; I have picked them, safe but traumatized,”
Malala has lately been critical of the handling of the hulling UDA party.

Over the weekend, he cautioned President William Ruto that an impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua could ostensibly lead to the derailing of the manifesto promised by Ruto in the 20224 general elections.

Earlier, Malala claimed that two senior UDA officials were behind plans to impeach Gachagua. He claimed that the two officials were attempting to remove the Deputy President in order to strategically position themselves within the shifting political landscape.

“This coup was plotted and orchestrated by two senior party officials alongside other secretariat. My ouster by the above officials had nothing to do with incompetence or my inability to run UDA party. But was a well choreographed script intended to climax with the impeachment of The deputy President Rigathi gachagua,” Malala explained at a press conference.

On Sunday, as Malala accompanied the deputy president for a church mass in Thika town, he insisted that he is still the secretary General of UDA, according to the register of Registrar of political parties. Malala advised the president to step in the impeachment of Rigathi,as it may in turn lead to his impeachment.

“I want to advise the president William Ruto even though I know that I should not be the one advising him because Mr President you could be thinking that you are impeaching Rigathi Gachagua only to find that you are beginning the course of your impeachment,” Malala warned at PEFA Church, Thika.
