Kenyan films

It is a pity that each time you seat down to watch a program on a Kenyan channel and most of them runs foreign shows from documentaries to dramas you name it all. Kenyan program gunner up to 20 per cent of the total airtime. Forget about news because that the main thing in our channels.

Kenyan actors does a good job, they are talented. If you go to YouTube some Kenyans films dominate both in moral education and general teachings. Media houses should give us local films that directly point to us and depicts who we are rather foreign films that has less impact on our lives.

Recent years musicians have been crying that Kenyan deejays don’t play Kenyan music. The complaint hit the social media and drew a lot of concerns from various people showing loyalty to Kenyan music and patriotism. This later saw the beginning of new hashtag ‘play Kenyan’ which was embraced by many media houses especially local radios and numerous deejay and changed some part of how Kenyan music is viewed now.

Local actors and Kenyan-made films require a platform too. It is high time that Kenyan filmmakers produce good quality films and of course professionally edited video and quality audio. This will also motivate Kenyan media houses to play these films and help Kenyan actors to harness their talents and a link to the rest of the world.

Kenyan media houses should even organize regular live competitions where several actor can showcase their work and the winners are encouraged by being awarded. This would not just lift the spirit of many actors but it will also provide employment to many hence reduce unemployment rate. It’s our time KENYA.
