The President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Dr. Erick Rutto has been announced as a new member of the General Council of the World Chambers Federation (WCF).
Dr. Rutto is expected to join 20 other elected members and 19 other appointed members to form the WCF General Council which sets up ad-hoc working groups to address specific issues arising from the WCF programme of action.
Dr. Rutto said his election to WCF is a huge step for global representation and recognition of Africa’s role in influencing trade policy and develpment.
“I am deeply honored by my inclusion in the General Council of the World Chambers Federation, especially by the WCF, for recognizing the importance of an inclusive global representation.”
He said that it’s a spectacular moment for the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI), acknowledging that his election reflects the growing recognition of Africa as a major influencer of global trade policy and development.

He also stated that the opportunity offers the African Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) a platform on the global stage for investors willing to invest and trade on the continent.
“This opportunity also offers Africa an opportunity to amplify the benefits of the Africa continental free trade area (ACFTA) on a global stage to investors willing to invest and trade in the continent. I look forward to working alongside fellow council members to champion the African voice, drive stronger collaboration, and contribute to solutions with greater impact for businesses worldwide,” Dr. Rutto said.
According to Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, Chair, ICC World Chambers Federation the election held this year reflects the strength and diversity of the global chamber community. He said he is proud to welcome personnel of such high caliber to the Council and Executive Committee, and he looks forward to working with Mr. Ruto to make the WCF more inclusive, representative, and impactful than ever before.

The participation of Africa follows the hosting of the World Chambers Federation Congress in Nairobi the first time it has been held in Africa this year, where it was hosted by KNCCI. The WCF Congress saw participation from over 65 chambers across the world and was opened by President William Ruto.
