Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali has distanced himself from the plot to impeach Deputy President Rigahthi Gachagua.
Ali said that he finds no grounds to impeach the second in command and that Gachagua has contributed greatly to Kenya.
The former Journalist alia Jicho Pevu said the plan to oust Gachagua is ill-intended.
“I have carefully read the charges in the impeachment motion against Deputy President @rigathi {. In good faith, I do not support this cause of action and find it ill- intentioned seeking to demonize a Public Servant who has contributed immensely to this great country,” he posted on his X account.
“Let it be known that I, Mohamed Ali Mohamed, did not sign the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.”

Mohamed Ali’s decision not to back Gachagua’s ouster comes after a motion to impeach Gachagua was tabled in parliament by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
A total of 291 members of parliament have endorsed the motion with the Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula okaying the motion. However, he stated that public participation must be done before the motion is debated.
“It would be absurd for any person to imagine that a motion such as this one may be concluded without public participation. Article 182 of the Constitution categorically enjoins Parliament to facilitate public participation and involvement in the legislative and other business of Parliament and its committees,” Wetangula said.
A section of leaders including Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has vowed to defend Gachagua against impeachment.
It remains to be seen how public participation will be conducted as Gachagua waits to see what fate has in store for him.
