Nairobi, Kenya, Nov 28- The National Council of NGOs has provided their support to the government in their efforts towards responding to the humanitarian challenges as a result of the ongoing El Nino rains in the country.
The Council Chair, Stephen Kipchumba Cheboi, applauded the president for his response towards the ongoing El Nino rains by convening a Cabinet meeting to deliberate on the government response on the ongoing el Nino rains
“We are here of course to support the government for their efforts they have done so far, His excellency the President has convened a Cabinet meeting to deliberate on the same, he has also formed National Emergency Committee and we are in full support,” he said.
Cheboi further appealed to its council members to also work with the County Government and other development partners to ensure that those who have been affected are supported in the best way possible.
“As a council we are also here to appeal to our members the NGOs to also work with the County Government, the National Government and other development partners to ensure that those who have been affected are supported in the best way possible,” he added.

He also urged the media to keep on highlighting the challenges that are occasioned by the current disaster as a result of the on going rains.
“Our appeal is to the media to continue highlighting on the issues, challenges occasioned by the current disaster as a result of the on going El Nino rains,” he said.
Additionally, Cheboi said that they continue giving humanitarian assistance during this period of time.
“Without humanitarian support many families and communities and the entire country at times fall a victim of the immediate poverty occasioned by a crisis like this and that’s our organization’s in such a time play a bigger role,” Cheboi added
