Gaza, Aug 10 — A Hamas-run security agency reports that dozens of people have been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a shelter in Gaza.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) maintain that they “precisely struck” terrorists within the Gaza enclave.
Palestinian medical and security sources indicate that more than 100 Palestinians were killed on Saturday following IDF airstrikes on a school serving as a shelter for displaced individuals in the Al-Daraj neighborhood of Gaza City.
“The Israeli bombing of a displaced people’s school comes within the framework of the crime of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our Palestinian people in a clear manner,” stated the Hamas-run government media office.
This latest airstrike follows the killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh last month in Iran.
The conflict has been intensifying since August 7 last year when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israeli soil, killing hundreds of young people and taking several others hostage during a late-night party.
Israel retaliated with a series of bombings in Gaza, forcing thousands to flee to the northern part of the city.
