NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 27-The Nairobi region based detectives have arrested two suspects believed in connection to the murder of a 47-year-old taxi driver Evans Bikundo Moracha.
The two Kennnedy Murimi Kinyua and Collins who after profile running were arrested in Lang’ata and Ole Kasasi respectively.
A search at Murimi’s house saw the recovery of a mobile phone that belonged to the diseased and a stun torch which the suspect confessed to have used to light their way to River Sagana.
The diseased body was found at River Sagana laying naked and having multiple head injuries after an assistant chief reported to the police about an unknown body found at the river.
The body was then taken to Murang’a level 5 hospital mortuary for autopsy and then taken to the National Registration Bureau (NRB) offices where identification through fingerprinting was conducted and discovered that it was Evans Moracha, who was reported missing by his wife.
His wife Teresa Masesi Kerubo had reported his disappearance at Mihang’o police station on October 14 and that also his vehicle; a Toyota Vitz Reg. No. KDH 833M had been missing for three days.
Forensic-led intelligence has established that the deceased did not just disappear but was picked up from his house by the the two suspects on the night of October 11, in the presence of his wife and days later the car was driven back to Teresa’s neighborhood and abandoned in a safe distance from her house .
The detectives have since then linked Teresa to the murder plot believing she was the mastermind of the plot after unclarified payments among the three were also traced and her arrest is still imminent.
“Police hence believe that Teresa, whose arrest is imminent, is the mastermind behind her husband’s heinous murder, and that her report on the missing husband might have been an afterthought after getting wind of the body’s recovery in Murang’a. Investigations are ongoing to unravel the motive behind the homicide,” Stated the DCI in their report.
The two suspects have been since held separately at Capital Hill and Kilimani police stations awaiting further interrogations.
