National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula on Tuesday April 30, 2024 approved a motion to impeach Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi over the fake fertilizer supplied to farmers.

Assuming that the movement sails through in parliament, Linturi will turn into the main close partner of President William Ruto to be removed from cabinet.

However,In the the Bumula MP is trying to impeach Linturi for ridiculous wrongdoing, gross infringement of the Constitution and carrying out a wrongdoing under public regulation.

While endorsing the motion, Wetangula revealed that the movement met all the requirements of the law and the standing requests.

“The justification for dismissal of the Agriculture CS as contained in the proposed motion conform to the necessities of standing request 641a and 66,” Wetangula ruled.

“Considering the prior, the proposed extraordinary motion meets the relevant procedural prerequisite for it to be confessed to the following stage,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Speaker underscored that the House should discard the movement in somewhere around 7 days after it has been moved, and cautioned that if that fails then, the motion will fall.

Additionally ,the MPs are currently scheduled to discuss the motion on Thursday May 2, 2024 after the Bumula MP moved the impeachment motion.

During the discussion on the impeachment , the House will likewise settle on whether they will form a board of 11 individuals to explore Linturi and decide whether he is at fault for the allegations evened against him.

“The Select Committee will in 10 days report to the assembly whether it tracks down the claims against the cabinet Secretary to be validated. Assuming the Select Panel report observes that the charges are unconfirmed, no further procedures are taken from there on,” Wetangula noted in his decision.

“In any case, assuming the Select Panel report observes that the charges are validated, the House is expected to manage the cost of the CS a chance to be heard and a vote whether to support a goal requiring excusal of the Agriculture cabinet secretary.”
