The deputy president, Rigathi Gacagua has appealed to the county governments to inject money for the intervention of the Floods crisis in the country.
Gachagua denied the claims that the county governments have been waiting for funds from the National Government, to curb the floods crisis.
“I’m appealing to the county governments also to consider channeling funds for this intervention. However there has been misconception that some county governments are waiting for the National government to give them money for this intervention. That’s not the case,” said the deputy president during his address.
Consequently, he clarified that the national government and the development partners will provide funds through the county coordination teams further urging the county governments to do the same.
The Deputy President further stressed that the county governments should use their funds within their financial provision and to reallocate money within their budget.
He also appreciated counties which have set aside money to help victims that have been affected by the floods. These counties include: Wajir, Mandera, Garissa, Kwale and Busia.
“I want to thank the county government of wajir, mandera, Garissa, Kwale and Busia, for setting aside funds to compliment what the national government and the development partners are doing,” said the deputy president.
Rigathi was speaking during a meeting with ambassadors and other development partners during the launch of the development partnership forum at his official Karen residence.G
