“Instead of accepting the salary increment, I propose that the equivalent amount be redirected to bursary program within my constituency. This program will specifically target financially disadvantaged tudents who are in need of educational support,” Amisi’s said in a statement.

“By reallocating these funds, we can directly contribute to the development and empowerment of our future leaders, thereby investing in the long term prosperity of our nation,” he added.

Amisi’s refusal to have his salary increased came as Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) gazetted salary increment for top government officials, a move that received sharp criticism.
