Azimio leader Raila Odinga promise to join the family of former Subukia member of parliament in Mourning their late mother

NAIROBI, KENYA, OCT 30-Azimio leader has pledged to moan the death Monica Wangu Wamwere who fought and aided for the release of political prisoners during the Nyayo era.

Raila Odinga and his wife Mama Ida have promised that they will join the family of the former Subukia MP and former assistant minister ,Hon koigi wa Wamwere in moaning of their mother Monica(who was popularly known as Mama Koigi) who Raila describes as one of the champions of Kenya’s second liberation.

“Mama Koigi was a staunch crusader for human rights and one of the champions of Kenya’s second liberation. She fought hard for the release of political prisoners during the Nyayo era,” Odinga stated in his statement today.

The opposition leader has spotlighted that Monica’s efforts were not just to see her two sons(Koigi and Kuria) being freed from prison, but the entire group that was held as prisoners at the Nyayo house and elsewhere in the country being freed.

Odinga has further acknowledged that the constitution we enjoy today is part of the fruits of the struggle, she withstood together with all the mothers of political prisoners in the early 90s and that Kenya has lost a gallant citizen and woman leader.

Raila has obliged himself to lead the people of bahati(where monica lived at the time of her death),Nakuru county and the country at large in extending his condolences to Monica’s family.
