Apple to Launch iPhone 17 Series with Major Upgrades

Apple is set to launch the new iPhone 17 series and other devices on September 9 at Apple Park in Cupertino, California.

The company will introduce four new iPhone models including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max and a new iPhone 17 Air. The iPhone 17 will look almost the same as last year’s version but it may come with small changes inside. The Pro models will have bigger updates, especially in the cameras.

iPhone 17 Pro Max highlights

The iPhone 17 Pro Max may come with a 6.9-inch XDR OLED screen that runs at 120Hz. Apple will power it with the A19 Pro chip, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Apple is adding 4GB more RAM compared to the older Pro models.

Test units of the iPhone 17 Pro in San Francisco show a new camera feature. The phone may get a third camera control near the top edge. It looks like a touch scroll surface placed under the left index finger. This will let users hold the iPhone sideways and use their right index finger to reach the main camera control.

Major camera upgrades

The iPhone 17 Pro Max will have three cameras at the back. These include a 48MP main camera, a 48MP ultra-wide camera and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens. This setup replaces the older 12MP system. Apple will also upgrade the front camera to 24MP for sharper selfies and clearer video calls.

The Pro models will feature a dynamic island with the front camera and slim bezels. At the back, Apple will add a wide rectangular camera bump that holds three sensors and a flash. The Apple logo will sit lower than before.

Battery and Charging upgrades

According to Economic Times, Apple could offer reverse wireless charging to the iPhone 17 Pro series. This feature will let users charge other Apple accessories wirelessly. If true, this will be the first time iPhones have this option.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max may also carry the biggest iPhone battery ever at 5,500mAh. It will support 25W MagSafe charging and 15W Qi2 wireless charging.
